چکیده

The theory of optimal control together with that of transient probe absorption spectroscopy are applied for control and detection of molecular wave packet dynamics in the weak response regime. We obtain a globally optimal pump–dump control field which drives the initial state to the predefined target, focused at the inner-turning point region of the electronic ground state potential. As for the detection, we calculate both the integrated and the dispersed transient pump–dump– probe absorption signals and adopt the difference detection schemes to reveal the optimally controlled molecular dynamics. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1503307#

Vibrational polarization beats in femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy: A signature of dissociative pump–dump–pump wave packet dynamics

Knopp et al. @J. Raman Spectrosc. 31, 51 ~2000!# have recently used resonant femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy ~CARS! to prepare and probe highly excited vibrational wave packets on the ground electronic potential surface of molecular iodine. The experiment uses a sequence of three resonant femtosecond pulses with two independently variable time delays. The first two pulses ac...

Perspectives for coherent optical formation of strontium molecules in their electronic ground state

Optical Feshbach resonances Phys. Rev. Lett. 94, 193001 2005 and pump-dump photoassociation with short laser pulses Phys. Rev. A 73, 033408 2006 have been proposed as means to coherently form stable ultracold-alkali-metal dimer molecules. In an optical Feshbach resonance, the intensity and possibly frequency of a cw laser are ramped up linearly followed by a sudden switch-off of the laser. This...

Real-time observation of intramolecular proton transfer in the electronic ground state of chloromalonaldehyde: an ab initio study of time-resolved photoelectron spectra.

The authors report on studies of time-resolved photoelectron spectra of intramolecular proton transfer in the ground state of chloromalonaldehyde, employing ab initio photoionization matrix elements and effective potential surfaces of reduced dimensionality, wherein the couplings of proton motion to the other molecular vibrational modes are embedded by averaging over classical trajectories. In ...

Ultrafast time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy of PYP by a sub-8 fs pulse laser at 400 nm.

Impulsive excitation of molecular vibration is known to induce wave packets in both the ground state and excited state. Here, the ultrafast dynamics of PYP was studied by pump-probe spectroscopy using a sub-8 fs pulse laser at 400 nm. The broadband spectrum of the UV pulse allowed us to detect the pump-probe signal covering 360-440 nm. The dependence of the vibrational phase of the vibrational ...

Time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy of proton transfer in the ground state of chloromalonaldehyde: wave-packet dynamics on effective potential surfaces of reduced dimensionality.

We report on a simple but widely useful method for obtaining time-independent potential surfaces of reduced dimensionality wherein the coupling between reaction and substrate modes is embedded by averaging over an ensemble of classical trajectories. While these classically averaged potentials with their reduced dimensionality should be useful whenever a separation between reaction and substrate...
